What Are the Benefits of Going to a Private School?
There are many benefits to choosing a private school education for your child such as smaller class sizes, academic challenge and support, and an emphasis on personal values. A private school education is a great way to prepare for academic success, social and emotional growth, and spiritual development.
Students at a private school are challenged academically and given greater access to teachers due to small class sizes. St. Ursula Villa’s robust curriculum requires hard work and self-discipline which encourages development into mature young adults who are ready to conquer the rigors of their next stages of life.
Smaller class sizes.
One of the values of a private school education is the small class sizes. At St. Ursula Villa, our student/teacher ratio is about 12:1. In 7th and 8th grade, most classes (such as math and language arts) are broken down into even smaller groups based on ability. This means your child gets much more one-on-one time with their teacher and teacher’s assistant. With this personalized attention, the rate of academic excellence is higher than in larger class sizes.
An emphasis on personal values.
Within each grade level, we help instill a strong sense of morality and values. Religion classes teach the Christian values of respect, honesty, kindness, and dignity. We believe in educating the whole person, not just ensuring their educational success. Along with opportunities for prayer and personal reflection, service to others is a top priority in teaching our students to be effective members of society. We believe that educating young people to be kind and thoughtful is necessary, no matter a student’s faith background.
A scenic, tranquil campus.
Our campus is 22-acres and sits in a beautiful, safe residential neighborhood in Mt. Lookout. With breathtaking river and valley views, our students benefit from being in the midst of wooded hillsides and mature trees every day. We also have numerous play areas and green lawns that encourage physical activity.
Opportunities beyond the classroom.
Along with rigorous academic programs, we also provide many extracurricular activities. Clubs, athletics (including soccer, basketball, and more), and Student Council are all opportunities for students to become more engaged and foster interpersonal relationships with one another.
A challenging academic curriculum that actively prepares students for high school, college, and beyond.
St. Ursula Villa nurtures and challenges students throughout our programs - from our youngest Early Childhood students to our 8th graders, the leaders of our school. Our goal is to instill values within our graduates that will endure throughout their lives. Characteristics exhibited by our graduates are Lifelong Learner, Confident and Engaged Individual, Compassionate Citizen, and Respectful Advocate. Classes are broken down even further in relation to ability in each subject, meaning more one-on-one time between teachers and students. Focus is placed on test-taking, time management, and note-taking in preparation for high school. Junior High students also have the opportunity to participate in programs like Student Council and other clubs.
-
Enrichment Activities: Educating the Whole Person
